Program Summary

This course uses a simulation-based case study to teach practical conflict-management and leadership skills for attorneys in supervisory roles. Participants follow a managing partner navigating a difficult review cycle, including team friction, avoided feedback conversations, and a near-departure, and apply five leadership frameworks to the situation as it unfolds: reading personality and work styles, giving specific and actionable feedback, the Situation–Behavior–Impact (SBI) model, Extreme Ownership, and Starting with Why. The course closes with guided exercises applying each framework to participants' own teams.

Key topics to be discussed:

  • Identify common considerations in the workplace when interacting with various personality styles
  • Understand the impact and importance of specific, actionable feedback and vague feedback can lead to inaction with certain team members
  • Understand the Situation-Behavior-Impact framework and how to implement it
  • Understand the core principles of the book Extreme Ownership and how you can drive results immediately with it
  • Understand Simon Sinek's Start with Why and how that can be used to increase team buy-in and results
  • Translate these concepts in to real workplace scenarios for a utilitarian approach toward understanding these concepts

Testimonials

I simply want to applaud you both for such stellar and entertaining performances in the mock ethics scenarios. The diversity of situations presented was truly eyebrow-raising and memorable. The discussion format was also quite entertaining and digestible. Overall, a great CLE.
Very good course, instructor and materials. I took another course with this instructor and she comes across as very knowledgeable and experienced. She enlivens the course with numerous anecdotes and examples from cases she has handled.
I found the way the material was presented made it interesting but also was effective in modeling how to analyze and discuss these issues with a colleague. This was the most interesting CLE that I’ve ever taken. Kudos to the presenters!
