About VHF Legal Seminars
What is VHFLS? Where will this content be held?
VHFLS is an online CLE platform currently in development. The mission of VHFLS is to provide attorneys with a more interactive, informative format for CLE courses - no lectures and a focus on practical simulations to mimic real scenarios.
How long has VHFLS been in business?
VHFLS is the vision of the founding members of Van Horn and Friedman P.C. (VHF P.C.). VHFPC has been serving the New York area since 2014. VHFLS is an online CLE platform in development by the VHF P.C. team, aiming to offer attorneys informative CLE credits rather than boring lectures. VHFLS began developing an online content platform in 2025 and is actively recruiting presenting attorneys in all areas of law.
What makes simulation-based CLE courses more effective?
VHFLS has found and firmly believes that simulations are more engaging and valuable than traditional lectures. Simulations can give insights to the same information with added context of how real scenarios will play out. We believe that this format will educate and instil more confidence to the student than other formats.
Why does VHFLS focus on a simulation rather than standard lectures?
The goal of VHFLS is to provide an interactive, useful seminar to attorneys. We feel attorneys benefit significantly more from viewing a simulation than a lecture. We also find it important to bring real scenarios to attorneys across the country so they can grow professionally and enter new areas of law with more confidence.
Prospective Presenters
I am interested in being a presenter, how do I get started?
Please email info@vhflegalseminars.com! We are so excited to hear from interested presenters, we will get back to you as soon as possible to coordinate a seminar topic and time.
Can I choose my own topic?
Absolutely! Since VHFLS is currently expanding the course catalog, we are interested in all topics across all areas of law! Please reach out to info@vhflegalseminars.com with your thoughts on your simulation!
Can I co-present with someone in my firm?
Yes, absolutely. Qualified attorneys will receive 3 credits per every 1 hour of presenting, even if multiple attorneys present. If you cannot find an attorney to present with please contact info@vhflegalseminars.com and we will ensure this gets solved as soon as possible.
I cannot find someone to present with, what do I do?
We can pair you with an attorney in your field, or we can also pair you with one of our esteemed attorneys from VHF P.C. If an attorney is not needed to present with you, I can present with you for your scenario.
What is expected of me? How should I prepare?
VHFLS is a CLE platform for informative simulations, rather than lectures. To prepare for this an outline is recommended for the key topics that will be covered, clearly define the roles of the simulation for all presenters, and try to make it engaging and entertaining for the future students! Ultimately, preparing for this is largely the same compared to traditional CLE formats.
How much time is required of me?
The time investment is similar to any other CLE course prep. After choosing a topic and simulation format, we recommend making an outline/script. The course must run for at least 60 minutes, so practices are beneficial for this. The recording session takes about 1 hour 15 minutes. Overall, it is about 1.5-2 hours.
You said “VHFLS is in development”, does this impact my ability to get presenter credits?
VHFLS is well on its way to being fully accredited. Currently there is a slightly waiting period for lecture approvals, but in the coming months we expect to grant presenter credits within 3 business days from the seminar recording.
What is in it for me (the presenting attorney)?
VHFLS is focusing strongly on presenter experience and catalog expansion. Attorneys benefit in the following ways…
You have the freedom to present a seminar on any topic and scenario. VHFLS is aggressively trying to record new seminars which means you will have plenty of opportunities to get your 3x credits for years to come.

What do I need to present?
Thankfully you probably have everything you need! You need a working computer for online conferencing (web camera and microphone) and a quiet place to record. Newly admitted attorneys (attorneys admitted less than 2 years ago) cannot present.
I am worried about filling up the 60+ minutes. What should I do?
The best solution we feel is to add a second scenario that can add additional context to the topic. For example, we could start with a Trial Prep scenario and move into a simulated Deposition scenario.
Can you send me a copy of the recording after for my personal use?
Certainly! After our video editing is finalized, we will send the recording to the presenters. Feel free to post it on social media or on your website.
How many people will view my seminar?
VHFLS is currently still in development, but we expect thousands of attorneys each year to view each lecture. This number will grow as we later expand out of New York state to the rest of the country.
How will my seminar get visibility? How will it be sold?
Seminars will get visibility when VHFLS goes live. Courses will be sold separately, in bundles, and via a subscription so the attorneys can choose the courses and prices that fit their needs.
What is a normal agenda for recording sessions?
Seminar recording sessions are really easy and natural. The goal is to naturally cover key topics and provide an informative simulation for the student to digest the material in. Below is a general agenda:
Pre-recording
Pre-recording
- VHFLS intro, recap VHFLS’ vision for CLE courses, audio/visual check
- Quick recap of the recording topic and the scenario to be used (e.g. trial prep) (up to 5 minutes before scheduled start time)
- Each presenter will do an introduction for the audience, quick overview of their legal background, and what role they will take in the simulation. (up to 5 mins max, does not count toward the credit time)
- Preview of the topics and key points to focus on throughout (up to 2 mins max, does not count toward the credit time)
- Begin simulation (up to 60 mins minimum)
- Quick recap of the key topics covered, outro (up to 2 mins max, does not count toward the credit time)
Is this a podcast?
VHFLS is not developing podcasts. VHFLS’ main goal is to reimagine CLE courses by focusing on simulations. Some examples include mock attorney/client meetings, mock trial prep, mock negotiations, and more! VHFLS has found that this is more informative and engaging for students compared to lectures or podcasts.
Is VHFLS Accredited?
VHFLS is currently not accredited, but new approvals are coming in every week and our internal contacts are actively working to get us an official accredited status - we expect to gain that status mid-2026.
