Gary Port is a partner at Port and Sava, a Lynbrook, New York law firm he established in 2002, where his practice spans complex commercial litigation, family law, and sports/entertainment law, with a strong focus on serving military clients. He has represented clients in trials and hearings before both state and federal courts, and he provides pro bono legal assistance to veterans.

From 2017 to 2018, Gary served as a Visiting Assistant Professor of Law at Hofstra University's Maurice A. Deane School of Law, where he ran a clinical program offering free legal services to veterans. He built the clinic's curriculum for VA disability claims and discharge review board appeals, developed partnerships with veteran service organizations at the local and national level, and led "Mission Critical," an initiative connecting Hofstra law students with veterans pursuing disability claims before the Veterans Administration and the Board of Veterans Appeals.
Earlier in his career, Gary handled personal injury litigation and appellate work as a senior associate at Sondra I. Harris and Associates, defended insurance clients at Kanterman, Taub and Breitner, and served as an Assistant District Attorney in Kings County, where he prosecuted criminal cases from witness interviews through grand jury presentations and trial.

A retired Lieutenant Colonel in the U.S. Army Reserve Judge Advocate General's Corps, Gary served over 25 years in uniform, including as Staff Judge Advocate for the 78th Training Division and legal advisor to its Commanding General, and completed four overseas tours as a Judge Advocate. Since 2018, he has served as a United States Army Reserve Ambassador, a courtesy two-star position advising the Commander of the Army Reserve. His military honors include the Meritorious Service Medal, the Army Commendation Medal with two oak leaf clusters, the Army Achievement Ribbon, and the Army Service Ribbon with an "M" device.
