Meredith Friedman, Esq.
How Meredith Helped Redefine CLE
Through Real-Life Legal Simulations
In 2017, Meredith’s partner, Alissa Van Horn approached her about teaching a
continuing legal education class together. However, the idea was not to stand up reading
PowerPoint slides to our fellow attorneys, who were likely not paying attention. Instead,
Meredith played the role of a matrimonial client, who was sitting down for a divorce consultation with attorney Alissa Van Horn, Esq. The feedback was incredible, as people
really appreciated this new type of format which made legal learning informative as well
as practical and fun. It became apparent to Meredith and Alissa that there was a need for this type of continuing legal education in all areas of the law. Thus, The Interactive
CLE company was created to offer attorneys real-life simulated lessons that are both
entertaining and useful.
Meredith was admitted to practice law in New York and New Jersey in 2007, and since
such time, she has dedicated her career to family and matrimonial matters. In 2015,
Meredith and Alissa partnered to form Van Horn & Friedman, P.C. Meredith was previously an associate at boutique family law firm in Garden City, New York. Prior to
that, Alissa and Meredith began their careers at a small general practice law firm.
Meredith is licensed to practice law in New York and New Jersey, as well as before
the United States District Courts for the Eastern and Southern Districts of New York. Meredith has a juris doctor from Touro College Jacob D. Fuchsberg Law Center
and obtained her undergraduate degree in Consumer Affairs in Business from the
University of Wisconsin-Madison. She is also a proud member of the New York State Bar Association, Family Law Chapter, the Suffolk County Bar Association and the Nassau
County Bar Association.
Meredith is the recipient of various awards throughout her career, including being
named Top Women Faculty for LawLine, Top 50 Women in Business, a Super Lawyer
since 2018, Outstanding Woman in the Law, and Power Women in Business, amongst others.
